58th Grammy Awards

Last night, many of America's most popular musicians, music producers, writers, and more met to give out the newest set of Grammy awards for the past year's music. The Grammy awards began in the late 1950's to echo the sentiments of the Oscars, but with a musical flavor.

Big winners included Taylor Swift's newest set of pop songs and Kendrick Lamar's widely lauded album To Pimp a Butterfly, which made splashes in both the popular and critical fields this past year. Broadway's hip-hop/rap musical Hamilton also won and made an appearance on the main stage. The classical and jazz fields were also well represented, with some wonderful musicians from the global circles giving performances of their own.

Performances have increasingly grown more and more grand over time, and this time around, this has not changed. Show-stoppers like Kendrick Lamar's "The Blacker the Berry" and the Earth, Wind, and Fire tribute helped push the show along, while mishaps with technology proved that performers like Adele will triumph even in the most uncomfortable situations.
